The Charm Account is brought to Bath and we’ll be ruffling our feathers at The Nest on The Paragon this Saturday 5th December. Looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces there for this second homecoming.
The Charm Account album tour continues apace as we head down to Cornwall for the weekend to stomp on the beach bars of Newquay and Penryn. We’ll be walking under ladders and opening umbrellas indoors at Whiskers in Newquay on Friday 13th to bring our luck to the north coast and then traversing the grizzled gorse Dangerfields to hurl ourselves onto the good people of Penryn and nearby Falmouth at Miss Peapods for a Saturday night shakedown! Hopefully we’ll have time for a few Spingos and even a sublime moment of clarity on the Cheesewring.
We look forward to seeing you there, in the meantime here’s a little video to get your knees working…<br>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8euRMbkwU-Y
It’s been a while in the pipeline, but at last the Charm Account album tour will be launched skywards this Thursday November 5th on home turf at the Attic Bar in Bristol! A few tickets are still available via Bristol Ticket Shop but get in quick to avoid disappointment. For the London contingent, we’ll be stomping at Hootananny in Brixton on Saturday November 7th and the following weekend we are down in Newquay and Penryn in Cornwall. Several other gigs around the UK can also be found in the run up to Christmas so check our gig diary page here for full details. Hopefully see as many as possible of you, our loyal supporters at one or other of these shows for some Quafftide!
As you should all know by now, we are releasing a shiny new album on 5th November. The frankly ridiculously good album artwork is a neo-medieval woodcut done by artist John Abell. Now, our wonderful press have been pushing ‘adult colouring books’ at us all recently, suggesting that they are tools for stress relief in a modern age and encouraging us to buy yet more shite we don’t need. We feel that colouring in our album cover would have the opposite effect and we strongly encourage you to try! And we want to see all your attempts. Post them on our facebook wall, tweet them using @zenhussies or email them to email@example.com – we’ll pick our favourite and you well get free entry to our album launch on 5th November at the Attic Bar, Bristol, a CD and limited edition vinyl of The Charm Account. Feel free to add any words about how relaxing you found it…
We’ll pick a winner on Friday 16th October.
The Charm Account LP is almost upon us on 12″ vinyl, CD & Digital formats! We are currently booking up gigs for the promotional tour, some of which are listed in the above poster, if you have any other venues you would like us to come play, please drop us an email via firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll see what we can do. Pip pip for now!
The latest news from Zen HQ is that the latest album is pretty much done and dusted, with eleven scorching new songs recorded and being put through the final production process as we speak. This dark art has involved copious amounts of late night huddling around a microphone with our fingers in our ears, several cafetieres of military grade Arabica, five bottles of Courvoisier and an auto-tune pedal kindly lent to us by One Direction!
Erstwhile graphic defiler Jonah (Julio Delaquaff Landscape, Good Ole Julesy, His Nibs etc etc) has now embarked on the process of getting covered in PVA, Poster Paint and double sided sticky tape to create the inner sleeve photomontage to embellish the wonderfully lurid front cover art of John Abell. We are inviting all of our followers who generously pledged to our Kickstarter campaign to send us a picture of themselves or something else they deem relevant to or inspired by our music for inclusion in this visual finger buffet of unearthly delights… if you want to be immortalised in this way please email us your selfies, doodles, oil paintings or finger paintings to email@example.com and we will endeavour to ensure that you are included in the end result!
Pip pip for now music lovers, next up we’ll be taking the stage at Broom Hill festival in a couple of weeks. Check the gig diary for full details x
The Zen Hussies have been lucky enough to meet some very daring Land Lords and Ladies in our lifelong mission to boldly go where other, more sensible outfits fear to tread, and true to our calling we will be getting our mojo cranked up to maximum effect this Saturday night at Gloucester Blues Festival in the wonderful Cafe Rene. The last time we perfumed here the only sober lifeforms were to be found squatting the dreadlocks of Edward II as his troubled ghost joined us for a night of unbridled rhythm and blues hoodoo. Get thee there and love whoever you love say us! It’s the 21st century and anything goes!
…The Zen Hussies will be saddling up for the showdown at the Frome Corale this Friday as we round off the first night of this wild west rodeo that is the ‘Once Upon A Time In The West‘ festival in the heart of the Wiltshire Badlands.
We will be donning our infamous six headed poncho and strapping on the chaps for a musical Mexican standoff in the finest Mariachi fashion!
We hope to see some familiar faces, good, bad and ugly in the audience, there were a few tickets left at the start of the week if you have yet to part with your fistful of dollars.
The Zen Hussies are undergoing a rebranding after our very helpful and expensive meeting with Charlie Saatchi this week at a warehouse in Canary Wharf, he was on tremendous form and he came at us with ideas and inspiration full throttle. The upshot of this momentous meeting of immovable objects and irresistible forces is that The Zen Hussies ARE CHANGING THEIR NAME to THE XEN HUSSIES to be less alphabetically impeded and allow former members to bury their many and various jazz hatchets. Please assist in the swift and efficient instigation of this rebranding process by editing any album covers, posters, t-shirts, tattoos etc with a Sharpie immediately. Thankyou for your cooperation.
It may appear a quiet time for those of you wishing to oscillate wildly at a Zen Hussies gig, but fear not – the band have been very busy reconciling their musical differences in a darkened room to bring you the new album later this summer! We’re adding the finishing touches to recordings and also still writing some brand new songs to help keep up the nation’s morale for the next few years! We will be playing a downbeat gig at the heart of Bristol’s Jazz and Blues scene The Old Duke on Thursday 11th June to keep the faithful from losing all hope and maintain the goodwill of our ever tolerant landlords. Love, light and loucheness to you all in this ‘interesting time’ we find ourselves in…
